    Dear Dogs and Cats:

The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door.

Dear Dogs and Cats:  The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food.  The other dishes are mine and contain my food.  Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack.  Racing me to the bottom is not the object.  Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed.  I am very sorry about this.  Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however.  Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep.  It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible.  I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door.  I must exit through the same door I entered.  Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is:  Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt.  I cannot stress this enough.
Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:

    (1)  They live here.  You don't.
    (2)  If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.  That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.
    (3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
    (4)  To you, they are animals.  To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

    "Greatest American Dog" Show

    Loyalty
I believe there is a difference between obedience and a dogs' loyalty. Loyalty means attachment, fondness or dedication; whereas, obedience means submission or compliance.

I felt the "Swapping Dogs" challenge was more of a test of restrained obedience. The challenge was great to test the dogs' ability against distractions, but in my opinion, obedience was demonstrated more than loyalty. However, where I did notice loyalty being demonstrated, is when Andrew fled from his one-on-one time with JD to find his owner, Laurie. Andrew was not enticed or instructed to find Laurie - it was his loyalty to his owner that made him flee from the house the find her.

I share Teresa's frustration with Leroy's barking. I too have an overly expressive dog - a six year old Lab. The idea of going for a walk, ride in the car, or even playing ball, leads to her barking and tail-spin excitement. I become frustrated because I cannot control her in this mode. I wish you luck Teresa and Leroy!

The four teams were great this show! Paws up!

    Flying Dogs!
I was so sad when Bill and Star got expelled from the academy. Although all the dogs are great, Star really touched my heart.  She has a unique personality that does not come from training, but from the bond she and Bill have. It was too bad that we didn't get to see the "orange dog" fly! Star.... you flew into my heart!

I was completely amazed at how Andrew was the only dog that did not even flinch when the elephant approached him. My thought was "could he even see the elephant with all the fur covering his eyes?"  Open-mouthed  I watch the show, but my husband does not; however, when he was hearing all the "commotion" I was making during the show, he had to change the channel on the TV he was watching to see what was going on!  Andrew sure is a brave little dog!

Galaxy and JD sure have the moves and skills. I sure hope that Galaxy recovers soon from her injury!

Thinking of getting a family dog?

While there are many breeders and pet stores to choose your new friend from, please consider checking out your local animal shelter or humane society first. You will be saving a life while providing a loving and caring home for this pet.

I have adopted several animals from the shelters, and continue to support them monthly with a donation each time I make a purchase at my local PetSmart.

Here is some help below if you are not sure which dog is right for your family.
